    Oof. I know we invoke comparisons to Hitler way too often, but given Bolsonaro's publicly-stated aims, isn't this just a little like Hitler getting a medal for protecting Jews?

    ‘Ludicrous’ is the first word that comes to mind, followed by the thought that this is an outrageous insult to people everywhere, not only in Brazil. Why do this? Why? ‘Contemptuous’: anger in Brazil as Bolsonaro given Indigenous merit medal

    Tone here is disappointing. Fair to ask questions but it would be better if you actually engaged with questions rather than with snark. You didn’t engage with the organization that conducted the research and that Mulago funds. There are answers to what you raise.

    I think this says "If the ministry made some basic, standard logistics changes, textbooks would get through to kids." Did I get it wrong? And if I did, the RCT was because....?

    I'll be the first to say this ain't easy - our own portfolio is a work in progress. But doers and funders oughta be - and increasingly are - in common cause on this. That's what it's gonna take to get some serious change around here. 17/17

    If, as a funder, I don't hold myself accountable, I'm a bad funder. If I don't hold doers accountable, I'm doing them and their putative beneficiaries a disservice. Good doers already hold themselves accountable. 16/n

    It's impossible to make a fool-proof case for lasting behavior. A zillion things can go wrong. But: With 1) a hard, systematic look at the logic, 2) a working knowledge of incentives and human behavior (so many resources nowadays)... 13/n

    A CASE FOR LASTING CHANGE. Impact comes from behavior change - someone does something differently. We look for a persuasive case that the impact-driving behavior will be maintained over time. 10/n
