A mask folds into your pocket neatly when you arrive, a helmet is clunky. That was the big thing I remember from my (frequently helmet-free) Stanford biking. The real q - what percentage we’re riding with their hands off the handlebars or carrying something heavy simultaneously?

I use a $10 helmet from Amazon and just strap it to the bicycle wherever I lock it up. Nobody has ever tampered with my helmet

To ge fair, a lot of people keep their masks on when moving between places. Just less things to think about and not really about covid in public spaces or in cars etc.
