1. Do not confuse discipline with punishment. 2. Denial of luxuries is an effective form of punishment. 3. Denial of basic human right is abuse. (eg, food, shelter - kifungiwa inje usiku... etc)

Yes. Being grounded or restricted from recreational activity is punishment. Denial of food is child cruelty.
