The reason I support a carbon tax is because the scale and impacts here are totally unintuitive for people. Rather than going through every e.g. food and trying to regulate its carbon impacts one by one, just price the carbon outputs and let people figure it out on their own

There's no need to have a knock-down-drag-out culture war fight over regulating beef (and other meats) individually, just fold it into the larger pricing scheme and if people can figure out a low carbon way to raise cows, they'll make a fortune.

Shouldn't beef cattle blend in the numbers for milk and cheese since in the beef/dairy industry you can't really have much dairy without somehow getting rid of most of the males? Same for chicken/egg industries.
-
they just kill the male chickens as chicks, im pretty sure? all the ones raised for meat are hens also

This is why it very mildly annoys me to hear people like Ezra Klein encouraging meat eaters to eat beef instead of chicken.
-
why did he do that

Eating beef and watching the NFL are the two things I do that I can’t defend in any way.
-
eh everyone who participates in the NFL is there voluntarily, is aware of the risks and is relatively well compensated. way less gross than college football
