In America, of course being flamboyantly, catastrophically wrong about the most significant economic event in 50+ years doesn't disqualify you from becoming the country's top economic policy advisor https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-03-14/kudlow-s-best-worst-calls-from-no-2007-recession-to-trump-bump …pic.twitter.com/C9bBGIfaNv

Almost no one predicted the big recession or the mini slump in 2000. Macro economists are notoriously bad at such endeavors. I was working on a big case in 2000 & could find only 1 academic predicting that one. All the econs were saying the digital econ was recession proof.

Many applied micro economists look down on macro economists for this very reason. There are too many confounding factors. Same w/Wall Street. The best theory - it's a random walk. And you still can't get agreement among econs on what caused the 29 crash or the Bush debacle.

You seem so surprised. Which is funny, because you're proof that being flamboyantly, catastrophically wrong about nearly every news story doesn't disqualify you from calling yourself a "journalist".

ALL mainstream economists got 2007 wrong. Peter Schiff was very lonely in calling the crash, but he was right.

I'm still eagerly awaiting your defense of Trump on trade ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
