The idea that meeting with a foreign leader somehow hands them a “victory” is a classic facile talking point used to undermine diplomatic engagementpic.twitter.com/ds8h8D9niP

It's almost like #CorporateMedia is the PR shop of the corporations that make $$$ from war & selling military goods/services.

It's a victory for Kim because under normal conditions he would have to "give something up" in order to be allowed at the adult table. Presumably this time Trump would talk regardless, but it's not happening anyway. So it's all moot.

Corporate media "liberals" are now sounding like George W. Bush because Russia. Step back, get a little perspective, and see how insane that sounds. When meeting with an adversarial leader without preconditions was Obama's policy, it was just fine then.

neither Trump nor the media understands how the world works among actual adults - the one shielded in daddy's mafia womb, the other petted poodles of power

Not saying Trump will do any better but are you referring to adults like Obama? Obama who took us from 2 wars to 8? Who ran out of bombs in 2016?

Now "liberals" will just disagree with anything Trump may do, still early to know whether it will happen or how it will end, but they´re also criticizing Russia offered to host the event. Just mindless opposition.

Please - stop treating Zakaria as a real journalist or a pundit. He is incapable of either one. Remember, he was for the invasion of Iraq.

@FareedZakaria Fareed is such an neocon idiot. So-called foreign policy "experts" because they can read a teleprompter, maybe wrote a book--not ib the subject they pontificate on--and they are held in high esteem by their colleagues....but really, what makes them experts?

Also worth considering: what is worse outcome that can come from talking vs not talking? How were people of N Korea benefing from our policy of not engaging? What good place was status quo of not talking bringing us to?
