Whether a person has "mental illness" such that they should be deprived of a constitutional right (whatever you might think about the legitimacy of that right) is not something anyone should be comfortable about law enforcement authorities unilaterally adjudicating

If you ever want to talk about it with someone here, Portland police literally has had a DOJ settlement about excessive force upon a protected class- people w/ mental health issues. More security state, More stigmatization, wrong direction.
