I hate that military invasions that kill, harm and displace millions are called 'interventions". "Interventions" makes it sound so polite, like,"Oh, excuse me for intervening..."

Or, “intervention” constituting.. would you believe.. NATO activities... :D

I tend to think of the related economic intervention like billions of dollars flowing each year from public coffers to agencies and contractors who have an incentive to keep the country on a war-footing. Perhaps using such language - intervention -also reflects *misplaced power*

Metaphorical bombs
Language is ever-evolving, terms are altered to have new meanings, and perhaps the 21st century will have fewer bombs & more, less violent “intervention.” You made me think of a recent interview I heard on @majorityfm about how democracies die.Thanks. The fact that you keep characterizing it as only a few memes tells me you either are ignorant to the actual facts, or you're purposefully downplaying it to suit your preexisting opinions. Neither of these look good on a "journalist".

Though if we can get the US to only do similar interventions the world will be a better place!

I take issue with the debasement in both the memes and a term connoting something so patently concretely destructive. https://youtu.be/vuEQixrBKCc

How did we do it in 1950’s Iran without Twitter… the good ole days of government overthrow.

A) It wasn't just memes. The drip drip drip of hacked emails. B) The memes were enough for the mouthbreathers in Trump's base. C) It's a new form of intervention that leverages something more effective than bombs: the volatile combination of stupidity and social media.

Why would any candidate from any party burn a billion dollars when all they had to do was create some goofy memes?
