Installing more metal detectors, deploying more cops, and subjecting kids to ever-more intrusive surveillance is never going to address the underlying social maladies which result in events like Parklandhttps://twitter.com/gelles/status/966106493031501824 …

Florida Gov. Rick Scott tonight: "My goal is to come up with something that is going to move the needle and make parents feel more comfortable that they’re kids going to go to a safe school. That’s the goal. These kids have got to go to safe schools.”

I don't have a tweet-sized plan to ameliorate social alienation in America.

True, but are you making an "if you can't do everything, do nothing" argument?

Secure schools immediately with professionals. Any school without a threat assement plan as outlined by https://www2.ed.gov/admins/lead/safety/threatassessmentguide.pdf … is criminally negligent. Also pass national mental health services and attack big pharma’s rampant drug pushing.

To me we have 2 options: Repeal/Amend the 2nd amendment OR just get used to many more people dying from guns. It’s a part of living in this gun infested nation that many people tragically die from them. We either rid the nation of them or get used to it. Either path looks bleak.

No, it won’t. But that is today’s climate (until we get it changed) and these processes must be put into place bc we know more terror attacks are coming. Metal detectors, checkpoints and armed guards are vital all over the world.

I think metal detectors are an extremely good idea, we need to make possession of guns equivalent to smoking, essentially ban it from all public places and important buildings.
