But given the facts of this situation, person A and and the validity of view B are related. It is possible that the Russian threat to the US is exaggerated under normal circumstances, but that Russia is now a threat precisely because Trump seems to invite Russian bad behavior.

Trump's perceived role in "inviting bad Russian behavior" does often lead people to conclude that view B is incorrect. But view B can be correct nonetheless; the problem could be that Trump's outsized presence is contributing to faulty analysis.
