Critiquing political machinations of the federal security apparatus is legitimate, but it's also true that GOP forfeit credibility when they frame "deep state" grievances in terms of petty partisanship, given that the central players are fellow Republicanshttps://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-russia-probe-republicans-deep-state_us_5a737d6ee4b06ee97af0d4dd …

Kristol and Frum are outliers who received outsized attention. Most of the Congressional GOP and affiliated entities have entirely accommodated themselves to Trump

Clearly many Republicans were hostile to Trump and a handful remain hostile. But conservative media / Congressional GOP routinely suggest that a partisan Dem witchhunt is what's driving the 'conspiracy.' While it's a factor, that framing is a vast oversimplification.

At this point most Washington Republicans have a legislative agenda that is in virtual lockstep with Trump

Disagree. With so many agencies thumbing there nose at government oversight this was a positive exercise of the legislative branch to provide oversight. Wasn’t this memo suppose to expose sources and methods? Get the info into the public

I think the writer of this article ignores the fact that when the term "deep state" is used, it does not refer to any particular party. "Deep state" refers to the group of persons that dictates to both parties.

True, though these men are unelected agents that thrive off of promoting their own interests over their parties. They are part of a system with no constituents to answer to and desperately needs to be addressed. Who cares what their voter registration is.

“laughed when asked about the notion that the FBI was a hotbed of liberalism” If you don’t pledge fealty or if you have a wife that ran as a Dem & is a friend of HRC donor, you are not just insinuated as disloyal but party to a conspiracy to undermine the presidency! maybe left!
