Maybe this is a dumb question, but: if The Memo contains misleading information and paints a false narrative (certainly possible) wouldn’t the proper course be to ... release the memo, so it can be publicly evaluated, and its misleading/false nature can be demonstrated?

Because the point of it is for you to look at it without the facts to evaluate it. The primacy of its unchallenged narrative will accomplish Nunes' aims perfectly. It's masterful from one angle even though I deplore the base idiocy behind it. It's already worked largely.
