Maybe this is a dumb question, but: if The Memo contains misleading information and paints a false narrative (certainly possible) wouldn’t the proper course be to ... release the memo, so it can be publicly evaluated, and its misleading/false nature can be demonstrated?

Hard to see how one can maintain a 100% warranted skepticism of the over-broad US classification regimen and then argue that this particular memo should stay classified because 1) FBI says so, or 2) its release may in some vague sense help Trump

I find it very suspect how much the Dems are fighting the release of this memo. Must be pretty damning stuff.

Our Republic on knife edge with potential domestic political espionage going on during campaign and transition. No greater threat than sanctimonious agency political appointees weaponizing their surveillance powers.

Actually that's consistent, the whole premise of this stupid scandal from the get-go has been that concealing some info from the public (e.g. 'dirt on Hillary from foreigners'), and punishing those who seek let alone release such info, is necessary to democracy. No change here.

It is a committed to transparency. Many have long felt there is corruption at federal agencies. You will have plenty of opportunity to shoot this down once released but I want this out there

Now, would they do the same to a Dem POTUS? Maybe so. Scandals are weaponized by both sides but I see the Republicans as having slightly more integrity than Dems rn even though I'm very liberal on most issues. Dems no longer the liberal party, they're the Nuke Russia party.

Sure I’m all for transparency but if I was part of a committee, even some union thing, I’d not want a tailored and possible false official document under my auspice moved fwd under false terms. partisans won’t wait for explanation.

Sounds like altering of facts to fit the frame. Release it. Hopefully with more information. But know the consequence. False documents would not be “transparency” but will be cheered as such. Not fond of the power struggle, as

Perhaps problem is current media's issue with treating the information released by a govt body as fact without researching. And as sources are secret won't have ability to confirm assertions in memo.

What if instead of cynical, this is truly the only way the GOP has to bring the sunshine? What if all traditional avenues are being blocked?
