Dem cheerleaders for sanctions -- a weapon of war -- are chronically incapable of formulating an actual argument for why sanctions on Russia are desirable policy. All they have is platitudes like "hacking our democracy"https://twitter.com/tedlieu/status/958173037765054464 …

As a Member of the Foreign Affairs Cmte, I find the weakness shown by @realDonaldTrump towards Russia to be deeply troubling. Sanctions law was not just to deter Russia, but to hold it accountable for hacking our democracy. Russia shouldn't get a mulligan. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/rich-russians-still-waiting-to-exhale/2018/01/29/7df459ca-052a-11e8-8777-2a059f168dd2_story.html?utm_term=.bb6ea8047f13 …

Their "arguments," such as they exist, are virtually always rooted in transitory domestic US political concerns, such as embarrassing Trump for a news cycle or seeking ill-defined "retribution" on an evil adversary. This is a horrendously idiotic way to conduct foreign policy

I hope that Russia responds to these aggressions as an act of war. These lunatics are damaging the Russian economy and its people, I do not know what another argument the Kremlin needs to initiate the threats.

Not to mention the fact that sanctions are a form of blockade and blockades are an act of war and war crimes. I have strong feelings on this and am constantly befuddled why it is never discussed.

Discussing it too much would risk changing how people view Pearl Harbor, or at least give reason to question whether it was crazy or a surprise.

That might be because this was once the purview of the Republican party, something they've completed abdicated now for a conman. Reagan must be spinning in his grave, isn't that right @ReaganiteGOPer ?

You do realize those sanctions passed a Republican-dominated Senate 98-2? There is no other way to spin this: Trump is refusing to perform his duties as chief executive.

I'm still trying to figure out why the Dems haven't hired the brilliant Russians that beat Hillcorp with a couple million dollars in Facebook ads. I mean, they hired David Brock.

Trump signed the sanctions bill and offered a justification for not enforcing them that is untrue, though like any Trump supporter you'd rather just delegitimize the opposition. the sanctions were targeted against the leaders and oligargas who have been looting the RF.

Not just Dems ‘cheerleading’ for sanctions on Russia. Was an almost unanimous vote. Only one with an issue re: sanctions seems to be Trump.

Sanctions were overwhelmingly passed into law by bipartisan House and Senate - not Dems as you state. This was veto-proof so he reluctantly signed and has now failed to implement. Why is he so afraid of Putin?
