Not the first, and won't be the last time that innocuous conduct gets criminalized due to FBI involvement. (Flynn's incompetence obviously also a factor)

That said, however innocuous the underlying conduct, any ordinary person who lied to the FBI would be severely punished. So it's right for the same standard to apply to a powerful figure like Flynn

Actually I'm more concerned with the Turkey kidnapping plot. Where did that go?

-
Odd how that goes away b/c lying to FBI is higher on their list or kidnapping plot never really happened ...

-
That was fake news. Flynn's lawyer released a statement few weeks ago saying that was not true.
-
Yes... I'm saying the kidnapping charges were made up... other wise why get him on lying...
-
It's how the government makes deals and secures cooperation. Leniency in exchange for damning testimony. Happens all the time. Did you see what I posted from today's hearing on
#MichaelFlynn and his lies about#Turkey? -
Yes, I saw it. But testimony about what? That per some reports senior officials and POTUS directed him to talk to Russia and other countries in December?! That's diplomacy, not illegal. Lying to the FBI agent&writing false statements is.
-
Look, full disclosure, I do not believe Russia is why Trump won the election nor am I a Russia hater, I WANT diplomacy! But some other serious crimes have been committed. The Mueller probe has run deep & ppl are getting busted.

I believe what’s not permissible is lying to the FBI
-
Unless you’re Clinton and her aides. Then it’s all fine.
-
Can you be more specific?

LOL. He violated the Logan Act. That seems to be a vital piece that maybe you “forgot”
-
Did he? I've heard numerous figures on TV today say otherwise.
-
To be fair in the last 6 hours there have been persuasive arguments both ways. What’s clear is this not, in the parlance of Trump, a nothingburger. Considering the legal exposure and the relatively light charge, it appears Flynn must be giving up quite a lot.

You are unbothered by hostility toward Russia? I am. I wish we could try being cooperative with that country, there is nothing innate preventing it whatsoever. It seems to me it's US elites wanting the hostility
