There's few things more pathetic than feckless, aggrieved pundits using every sexual misconduct revelation to bolster their "Hillary Was Wronged" narrativehttps://twitter.com/paulkrugman/status/935866079066427392 …

I don’t know here. Can’t help but wonder if Lauer attacking HRC while letting Trump slide was a projection of his own misogyny and deviancy.

1) Lauer's line of questioning in that particular segment, which everyone flipped out about, was perfectly legitimate 2) "Let Trump slide" is a stretch -- Trump's flaws were discussed ad nauseam on the Today Show

if i remember right, he questioned her fitness to be POTUS based on the emails, asking her if it was "disqualifying." didn't take similar tone with Trump, and didn't push back nearly as much on his responses.

Yes, then as now people get extremely upset whenever anyone dares ask Hillary about her destruction of government records.

I'm all for questioning her on that -- but to posit that it's "disqualifying" while not being nearly as confrontational with Donald J. Trump?

Lauer asked Trump about his "temperament" and ties to Putin. So he asked both candidates questions having to do with the dominant media narratives at the time. That reflects Lauer's fundamental superficiality, not some menacing bias against Hillary as these people like to claim.

I agree re: superficiality but I guess my (subjective) point is that it says something that he cast doubt on whether she's qualified to be president but not Trump. And my own personal view is that the emails weren't that big a deal to begin with.

He did cast doubt on whether Trump was qualified to be president, though. Just in a way that was in keeping with the dominant mindset among morning network TV pundits.
