In terms of rhetorical argument, "whataboutism" is similar to pointing to the exception in an attempt to disprove the general rule. It's sophomoric sophistry that the intellectually dishonest and the intellectually challenged use all the time.

Dee Dee Myers seemed to know a lot about Bill's ways - her husband wrote that scathing accusation in Vanity Fair magazine in 2008 that he was cheating on the campaign trail while campaigning for Hillary.

Problem was, at the time it was a Right Wing Witch Hunt. The sheer hypocrisy of Newt Gingrich leading the charge alone made that blantantly clear. Unfortunately, it appears it was also a legitimate case of a sexual predator taking advantage of a woman in a vulnerable position...

I detest accusations of "whataboutism" to dismiss valid points. In my view neither party really cares about morality. They care about power. A senate seat is at stake as well as billions in cronyism. Maybe a few ppl in Congress care about things other than power. But most do NOT.
