Incoming NJ Governor Phil Murphy won by buying off local Democratic committees using the fortune he had amassed over 20 years at Goldman Sachs and flattering donors as DNC finance chair. Amazing how that could be spun as a "progressive" triumph given recent political history.

What happened to make Fulop up and just disappear from consideration? He seemed the logical choice based on youth, popularity in a major urban center, and 'progressiveness' for lack of a better way of putting it.

Murphy mobilized earlier, securing requisite endorsements/support from local party infrastructure in North NJ, which crowded most others out of the race.
