That's a condition that would've preexisted Trump. Jeet assigns the dawn of fascism in America solely to Trump's ascendance.

Um, no. My consistent argument is that Trump is a product of long-standing decades old tendencies & trends in American politics.

On what date did Americans become subjects of a fascist government?

I think living under Jim Crow for black Americans was akin to fascism.

Your initial tweet suggested Americans "embraced fascism" by electing Trump. Doesn't that mean fascism officially dawned on Jan. 20, 2017?

You haven't answered my questions: 1) Is America currently a fascist state? 2) If yes, on what date did that condition begin?

It's not a fascist state but it has an authoritarian president with some fascistic people in powerful positions (Bannon, Gorka).

I dunno -- I find election of a president with authoritarian aspirations & surrounded by far-rightists pretty bad. I know you disagree.

It's not about whether it's "bad," it's about whether it constitutes the emergence of a fascist regime. I agree with Corey Robin about that.

Again, to me aspirationally fascist or proto-fascist is worrisome enough.
