Brexit caused a vacuum in British politics such that Corbyn was able to consolidate power; now the Labour Party is indisputably left-wing.

Feckless "moderates," sensing an opening, launched their "coup" attempt in the immediate aftermath of the vote. Didn't work out so well.
-
May still has to contend with Tory division over the proper course for implementing Brexit; not clear as yet she'll call an early election.
-
And if she does, newly-invigorated Labour certainly has a shot; naysayers will claim otherwise. Either way, Brexit strengthened Corbyn.

Corbyn consolidated in the party (by the coup, not Brexit). Weakened in the polls https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e5/Opinion_polling_UK_2020_election_short_axis.png/850px-Opinion_polling_UK_2020_election_short_axis.png …

The first step to consolidating power writ large is consolidating power within the party. Polls are fleeting.
