There's such an overabundance of media analysis -- some good, some not -- on right-wing ideological trends. Not much of trends on the left.

By fixating obsessively on right-wing trends (Tea Party, Trump) pundits get an excuse to forego self-criticism. Leads to a kind of stasis.

Pundits find right-wing insurgencies and movements fascinating, but generally dismiss and eye-roll left-wing movements. Same as it ever was.
