The brutal fissures both 2016 primaries exposed are truly incredible: so many once-allies on both the left and right now loathe one another

I really don't get this: Why is the left/liberal split something to rectify, rather than a battle that will be fought again??
-
Strange to think this was final 1-off battle—now Left lost. Fight in congressional primaries, to force social justice on table, etc

NYT ran headline comparing HRC/Obama to fight over whether to ratify 14th Amendt w/out women's suffrage. hard to recall split now.
-
Well, that was foolish by the NYT. Anti-establishment socialism versus establishment liberalism can't just be reconciled overnight.

Yeah, 2008 was nastier, perhaps because it wasn't motivated by much of anything, but 2016 feels more durable.

I think many people (esp if sympathetic to Clinton) are making the mistake of seeing 2016 personality-driven like 2008.
