Trump's NATO comments were (as usual) muddled & incoherent. But that's not what most bothered critics. It was his reticence to commit to war

It's a mistake to read Trump's comments as in any way anti-war. He wants to wage war on his terms.

The uproarious reaction to his comments last night stemmed from his stated unwillingness to wage war on behalf of the Baltics.

It's true that he likely doesn't have any principled commitment to an "antiwar" stance, but often ends up there for other reasons.

But his stance here isn't even anti-war. He's willing to fight if allies chip in more money. He wants USA empire to make more $$.

If you'd prefer not to wage war because it'd be economically imprudent, that's still an "anti-war" stance.
