It's widely assumed that Brexit would "empower" nationalists, but it could also disempower them by taking their marquee issue off the table.

It's far from a given that UKIP / Tory nationalists would suddenly make dramatic parliamentary gains as a result of a Brexit vote.

Cameron may also have to call new elections and there's no guarantee that Conservatives would win another majority
