Should a person who calls for genocidal violence on Twitter not face any employment-related repercussions?

How about if they do the same on a street corner, or a public meeting? It seems too simple to say, "people shouldn't be fired for tweets."

there's got to be a lot of very relevant first amendment discussion about publishing--are tweets different enough to rethink?

It's not a strawman, as I'm not asking that question as a rebuttal to anything.

The line now extends to public pronouncements on social media in some instances.

If you're answer to the question as "yes" then you do in fact think that tweets can rightly be basis for firing.

Some people seem to be taking a maximalist position that tweets should never be basis for firing.

Tweets should ONLY ever be a basis for firing if someone uses them to make specific threats that violate the law.

Doesn't that depend on the job? An architect, or programmer, why? I suppose if there's a morals clause in their employment K.
