In the "what's the most prudent response to looming fascism" debate, people will frequently say: don't throw eggs! Go do voter registration.

That's always been a core problem w/ HRC. The campaign is not offering an affirmative vision of anything. Contrast w/ Obama '08 & Bernie now
-
Clearly *some* voter reg. can be motivated strictly on anti-Trump grounds. But not as much as if coupled with a strong affirmative cause.

Is there some sort of research that shows you need an underlying affirmative cause? Or just your gut feeling?
-
That's my gut feeling. Note I said you "also" need an affirmative cause. I acknowledge that a negative cause will reg. some voters.

I mean, you anticipate the response, right? Ppl will reg & vote to prevent Trump from leading the world. That's ok
-
Some will, but I don't think nearly as many that would if there were also an affirmative cause motivating them.
