1. I've engaged in a little of it myself, but this "Trump is a fascist" thing really needs to be contained.

2. It's not that there's nothing fascistic in Trump. But hitting those elements isn't very illuminating.

3. Better: Trump is a populist. Fascists are populists. But not all populists are fascists. Trump's populism differs fr fascism in sev ways.

4. Trump lacks a coherent ideology, for one thing. Not true of fascism. Also, not militaristic or para-militaristic (at least yet).

Fascism is adaptable and not always coherent; see Mussolini. Not saying it applies to Trump, but coherence not a requirement.

I do think there has to be a movement, which implies some coherence, order, unity, goals. Trump is disorder personified.

You wouldn't expect contemporary fascism to perfectly mimic 1930s fascism. It's too fluid, nebulous a style.

At a certain point, it makes sense to use a different term. I prefer "populism": Berlusconi, Chavez, Le Pen, Putin, Victor Obran

Need not be bound by any one term; Trumpism clearly combines lots of elements.
