Furthermore, why is it surprising that a candidate who aggressively challenges her own party's establishment and rejects many of its failed orthodoxies would draw support from across the spectrum? And do you realize Tulsi has been just as harsh on Trump and the GOP establishment?

Any candidate whose campaign is centered on foreign policy is going to draw an atypical range of support because the issue doesn't cut neatly across partisan lines. This has always been true throughout US history, but her antagonists try to cast it as something sinister

its so weird tho "isnt it awful how Tulsi has commonality and broad appeal ranging across the spectrum?"
-
The more interesting question is, why are right-wing personalities expressing positive attitudes about a candidate who for example calls for the prohibition of fossil fuels and a universal government healthcare program?

I’m a right-leaning libertarian. I’ll hold my nose for a lot of economic and domestic policy nonsense if someone will end the wars. It’s sad that I have to go to a fringe candidate in the Democratic Party to do that.
-
Even more sad is that she's "fringe" at all. Why is the stance of 'hey let's not kill these humans' fringe at all? Should be the default. Oh, right, money.

Is it really so terrible to have support from the libertarian and anti-illegal-war crowd on the right?
-
The anti-war crowd (in which I include myself) has been political misfits my entire adult life. They get put into buckets like libertarian but I don’t think the people that see this as the MOST important issue fit into any one space in the political spectrum.

Weird that Hillary was never criticized for being the preferred choice for Bush era neocons and other similarly blood-soaked war criminals. Tulsi has support from an Anti-war coalition including the non-interventionist Right and anti-war libertarians etc. This is a good thing.
-
This would be great in a general because it undercuts the only good thing these people see in Trump. Many voted for him based on this exact issue.

They'll hold hands with the GOP constituency when it comes to signing off on war and oligarchy, but when it comes to defending a 7yr sitting congresswoman against baseless smears...hmm, I wonder why...

She got 84% in the primary and 77% in the general in 2018 so Hillary is calling a large percentage of loyal Hawaiian democrats traitors by extension.

Also, I don't get this idea where its bad to draw support from a wide spectrum of people - as if that's a bad thing! It is actually a good thing to appeal to a wide political spectrum in many cases. The people who don't think so are the Dem/Leftist extremists.
-
I am with you Karl. I always hear about not applying idealogical purity tests to Dem candidates (vote blue no matter who). Meanwhile, Dem/leftists leave out whole blocks of people that they think don't conform to their idealogical purity standards.

In the real world, the vast majority of people know little to nothing about Tulsi.
-
I think that recently changed.

I hate this tribal mentality where being able to flip voters is seen as a bad thing. If Tulsi can get right-wing people to back left-wing policy, good. Isn't that how we win?
