Trump's letter to Erdogan inspires such horror among think tankers and the like because it reinforces that Trump is a very poor steward of US global hegemony. Hard to maintain the sheen of eternal American Exceptionalism with letters that resemble semi-literate teenage shitposts

Noam Chomsky compared international relations to the conduct of the mob. Pres. Trump shows everyone it is true.

If teenage shitposts are what it takes to get America out of the ME, I’m going to side with teenage shitposts. Every. Single. Time.

They only scared because they know it works. Their decades of overpriced university courses are rendered a pyramid scheme enriching the bourgeoisie.

Clear and simple language is horrible to pundits and opinion makers because normal people can understand it so they don’t need pundits and opinion makers to explain what’s going on.

Seems like if this works and there’s peace and the Syrian Kurds return home and US is out and we can control the unelected spooks from drumming up more trouble...then the whole assumption that peace is unattainable can be challenged even more.

Diplomatic languages usually leave room for gov'ts to claim ambiguity or misunderstanding. The world now speaks and understands English. Trump's use of English may not be diplomatic, but doesn't risk being misunderstood.

The letter was more for twitter than Erdogan....and that is what scares them. That Trump doesn't need their nonsense.

You are slowly starting to understand him and why his genuine contrast to a subjective "sheen of eternal American Exceptionalism" is what generates results!

Except, the letter apparently worked. Wasn't there another outrage cycle about another letter to Kim? Which also achieved its objective.

Good. Time these elitists started to think in real human terms. Perhaps they wouldn't be so "cavalier" with human lives that aren't their own. Maybe (wishful thinking!) it would prevent more wars.

I thought the invasions of Georgia and Crimea, the construction of South Pacific islands, and a Russian puppet dictator killing 500,000 of his own people on our watch is what did the number to our hegemony.
