When the US first engaged military in Syria, officials claimed there would be no "boots on the ground" and the media largely accepted this lie without challenge, while cheering the operation. Now that "boots" are actually being *removed* -- they're indignant. Perverse cycle

Our culture conditions us to expect the reward, w/out having to be cognizant of *how it's made*. Whether it's a phone, baked chicken or a fragile peace in a volatile geo-political theater, 'I dont need to know how, but make it so'. That's the how the song goes. People hum it.

In fact, part of the entitled reward is to also be able to COMPLAIN abt *how its made*, then moving on w/one's day. If anyone is pressed on the matter, 'I know, isn't it just horrible that...' Everyone can lip sync to it. We teach the words to our children.

That’s not a cycle, it’s a demonstration of an ever present pro war media. Cycles have changed in them.

@DavidRutz can we get a video of the zillion times we were told "no boots on the ground"?

Largely accepted? They just pushed and covered for the "there won't be any boots on the ground" lie. How else were we planning to topple a regime and replace it with someone we prefer? Perhaps another coup I suppose.

Thin end of the wedge - leads to mission creep. We'll just do a little bit of meddling but as that provokes resistance or suffers setback, we need to continually up our game so as not to 'retreat' and lose 'credibility'.

Stick to conspiracy theory . . . for that you are uniquely qualified. Whenever you saunter off to MENA you end up ith orange all over your keyboard.

He antiwar but doesn't mind if it gets allies and their families killed. A certain subset of Gabbard mentality that infects us.

Those troops are still in Syria though. Just not providing a buffer for the Kurds anymore.
