love to spin the imminent NATO-supported liquidation of the kurdish people as an anti-imperialist thing, cool

There was a time I’d go for this, like back when we just had to avenge the Kuwaitis...

Yes but can you please address the fact that some very prominent anti-war activists, some of whom took such bold stances against war that they were arrested for it, have argued that it's immoral to pull out of Syria
-
Did not hear about such anti-war activists. Most prominent ones like Code Pink were always true anti-war and not for endless neocolonial occupations.

the problem isn't pulling troops out. the problem is destabilizing the region to such an extent that all actions both to increase or decrease troops turns into a shitshow. This is the exact reason why non-intervention must be the starting point of any foreign policy.

Thanks to a neocon MSM and especially Fox News, most Americans don't have a clue what's happening in Syria. US troops have told me about co-locating with, escorting and even rescuing Is elements. Yet Trump supporters think he defeated Is. It would be funny if it were not so sad.

It's still "too early and irresponsible" to get out of Afghanistan, 18 years later. It's always too early, no matter whether it's 5 years or 20.

This is a bad take. Syria enables Russia's imperialistic ambitions in the region and engages in brutal repression, including of Palestinians, worth noting. I wouldn't condemn US support for the Kurds any more than I'd condemn Iranian support for Yemen. They're shockingly similar

In this case, it is justified by the fact that we should protect the Kurds. Noam freaking Chomsky agrees with this.

Yes... stay there until 2174 right?

Sometimes, what is presumed happens to also be correct. In this case, for example.

He’s not removing troops from war zones, he’s not even removing them from Syria. He’s just relocating them so Turkey can claim the territory.

We just need to keep troops there until a stable democracy emerges, a process that our presence actively undermines

It's more about the budget and level of militarization.. humans making aircraft carriers and F35s .... and moving them around ... in the ocean with diesel fuel ... And young guys... for 80 years..

They are not being removed. Just moved. So Turkey can mount an offensive. They are staying in Syria.pic.twitter.com/CfRkVmTfQQ
