Bad take. This isn't about our staying. It's about how we are leaving w/o taking the SDF with us.

Indeed, the war to overthrow the Syrian gov was illegal, but fighting ISIS along with the Kurds was covered under the 2001 AUMF.

I agree, but ... DJT should start removing the troops from Japan and Germany, and who knows where else, first

Troops love the DE and JP assignments. They’re fun chances to bring the family to live in a safe foreign colony of the USA. Hard to take that away from them.

The reality is the U.S pulling out of Syria was never really compatible with the political positions of both Democrats and Republicans. Both are committed to 'projecting American power' as long as the cost in blood is kept to a minimum. This made Syria their perfect project.
-
Political parties can't except that sometimes there's nothing you can do to solve that problem, and quite often end up making it worse like Tunisia, Libya, Iraq, Syria, etc.

They don’t care about the legality of this occupation, and they clearly don’t care about the lives they are risking illegitimately...

They don’t. When W was President, the media was against it. Now that Trump is pulling out, the media has reflexively flipped.

Na, I remember watching Wolf Blitzer essentially drooling over the invasion of Iraq, the MSM has always been in love with the GWoT. Anyone on TV agaisnt the war was shunned, and called a terrorist supporter.

There are exactly 2 things that both democrats and (many) republicans will reliably agree on: open borders and perpetual wars in far away countries.

Personally I think letting Turkey massacre our Kurdish allies and thus forcing them to release all the ISIS fighters they're keeping in camps for us is a bad thing. But maybe I'm just a cynic?
-
No, you’re a wishful thinker. A cynic would wonder why the hell we get involved in foreign affairs at all when our nation is in such disarray.
