A lot of Kurds are going to die because of this. Nice to know that the ends justify the means.

I see your point but people like both Chomsky and Mike Gravel see this as an abandonment and potential death sentence for the Kurds. This is one of those cases that demands more nuance, I think.
-
In what situation would nuance not be required?

No one can argue Trump didn't say he was going to do this before and after being elected. I worry about the consequences but it had to happen sooner or later

This must not happen lest a No War situation develops

Pulling out US troops does not lead to less, but more war in the region when Turkey invades. But I guess war is only bad when the US is involved, otherwise it is "people taking care of their own business"?

Underscores politics. Going, staying, or leaving somewhere is good or correct if "my President" does it.

You have to understand that we are pulling out for a reason, right? We aren't pulling out of any of the other places we are involved in, so it's not about anti-imperialism. We are not preventing any imperialism by moving our people so that Turkey can do their own imperialism.
-
Turkey is a NATO ally. Being in Syria with them invading would not only put us in the crossfire with Turkey, it'd put us in the crossfire with everyone else. US can't fight from the side of the border Syria just opened.

We're pulling 100-150 troops out. The Pentagon's big worry is that ISIS will return. "The White House statement bears no relation to facts on the ground. If implemented, it will significantly increase risk to our personnel, as well as hasten ISIS’s resurgence.”
-
The Pentagon isn't exactly an unbiased source these last 20 years.

Brain genius and intellectual maverick Michael Tracey advances a new, highly nuanced position of a fraught political topic: "There are only two options: either pull out all troops from the area now via presidential tweet, or stay there for all eternity."
-
Stay and fight the formidable Turkish army or leave. Those are the options.

How would US troops be "legally" stationed in Syria?
