“Joker” is politically ambiguous. An anti-capitalist movement springs up over what are essentially random spree killings committed by a psychotic person. Which doesn’t necessarily reflect well on the movement. But then again, the “capitalists” are also callous and cruel

Yeah. Not really a political movie in the sense of being a left-wing film or a right-wing film. Feels like a lot of people are just projecting their own politics onto it. Whether in support or opposition

Besides the fact that it's just a movie.......

I think the fact that the insanely violent mob he inspires has a resemblance to Antifa causes intolerable ambiguity for these times. Some people are very defensive of "good" angry rioters enthusiasts who are on the "correct" side. It's absurd.

Sounds like you're describing Mr. Robot more than anything.

People want to draw too much meaning from the movie about the state of society and their own lives. I loved the movie, but it was just 1 man's descent into madness ; not sure why people want it to be anything more.

I’m seeing it at noon today. I’m so intrigued by all the controversy. I never see super hero movies. I actually hate them, lol, but this one sounds like an entire different animal.

It was fascinating. It was all about the Joker within the context of a fake city in a fake universe. People who try to compare or defend the movie to modern politics should put the aderol prescription down.

It's pretty astonishing. A movie that actually challenges us from unexpected angles, offering a different viewpoint, is dismisses as "Worthless." Quite literally, if you do not say what the elites already think, they won't like it. Amazing.

Reminds me of The VVitch, with viewers unable to agree on whether it glorified becoming a witch or not. Maybe that's the point.

It’s a nihilist character. Almost an inverse of Hugo’s The Man Who Laughs, which is the original inspiration for the idea of the actual original Joker. Somehow professional reviewers don’t, idk, review the actual character to a coherent, comprehensive evaluation.

Nope. It just takes a few digs at the left and the media
