Doesn't the likelihood that one will have a blocked artery increase with age? Seeing claims that Bernie's health episode is not "age-related" but that doesn't seem to make sense.

I mean yeah, a factor making an event more likely doesn’t automatically mean it’s the cause.

Younger people have clogged arteries too not just old people! Obviously the older you get the more of a risk factor it is. The good news is they found the blockage early and corrected it! Now @BernieSanders will be just fine and even better than ever before! He's here to stay!

I think what people mean is that there are plenty of young men with blocked arteries (studies on military volunteers), and also plenty of people who have this procedure in their forties or earlier.

The risk of having blocked arteries increases with age but it can also be purely genetic. My stepdad was 40 when he first had a grand mal seizure leading to arteriosclerosis

Of course. But Bernie also *has* a heart, unlike most of the other Dem. candidates. (I wish he hadn't gotten the stents. He needed rest most of all. If you read the lit on stents, they may do more harm than good---even though millions are put in every year---factory medicine.)

Blocked arteries can happen when one is much younger than Bernie. Diet, genetics, etc. all play a role. Good thing Bernie's were discovered when they were.

Really? People of all ages have problems with heart arteries. If for any reason the body becomes to acidic, arteries start to break down so the body packs the leaks with placque made from cholesterol. Artificially lower cholesterol, and you get microstrokes, like my mom.

It isn't. Per Dr. Mark Siegel, it is age related. Bernie has a history of high cholesterol.

So he might have had a heart attack but that is something I guess they wouldn't say. I just read about it in a news story and it doesn't sound good, they are saying he won't be seen publicly for a while. Uh Oh.

I think they mean it wasn't caused by the processes that fail as we age... So it wasn't dementia or organ function Time was the ultimate cause, and probably a little genetics too...
