The identity of the “whistleblower” is 100% relevant for the public to assess the veracity of his claims, and anyone losing their minds over the NYT reporting this obviously newsworthy information is an idiot

        1. If the whistleblower is an embedded CIA person, that should bother us that Trump is being spied on. 2. If Trump is being actively spied upon and this phone call is his biggest transgression, maybe he’s not as corrupt as we’re being told.

I want this guy’s name. Let’s find out who he is. I want to see him in public. He doesn’t get to start an insane spectacle and hide. Let’s hear from him directly and let’s see him cross examined under oath.

Counterpoint: what if the identify of the whistleblower was irrelevant because the complaint and the call memo match?

Yes exactly, Mike. He’s not some low level helpless bureaucrat, he’s a CIA officer. The more relevant question is how many foreign governments he helped bring down over his career.

Hmmm I’m not sure this is a good take Michael. In this case , it made sense in a way but in general terms the media almost identifying a whistleblower is really not acceptable .

You aren't really thinking of the further implications IMO. If CIA whistleblowers cannot trust the media to not expose them, why whistleblow?

Yes seemed kind of strange Maguire expressed a belief that the complaint was made 'in good faith' when the transcript was at odds with the claims made, he knew of a potential political bias & didn't know exactly who the guy was.

We never knew the identity of “deep throat.” His veracity wasn’t important. It was the path he provided that was important so investigators knew where to look. Same with #whistleblower. Example, We’d never know to look for secret servers unless he led us to look. 1/2
