Probably similar to the ramifications of the attempt to impeach Bill Clinton. Why would it be that much different?

I suspect Trump has been baiting impeachment to put the house dems between a rock and a hard place. Vote to impeach, lose votes. Vote against, lose votes. Inaction is the best for reelection. Action pisses off some people.

I think it ends up helping Trump "big league", because it looks so obviously desperate on behalf of the Dems. So close to an election, it looks like they don't think they can win fair and square, and the Senate will exonerate Trump. (unless GOP wants to commit political suicide)
-
Tulsi Gabbard has the correct take when she recently said she thinks it should be the American people who choose to replace Trump (in the 2020 election), not the Dems.

True. Even I don't guarantee what will happen. We just have a track record of DNC getting ahead of themselves, combined with irresponsible media reporting, that it's likely this scandal is overcooked and they still aren't taking it off the stove.

that's not the issue now - issue is upholding or at least recovering some semblance of our rule of law

If they impeached trump it’s really impossible to say what would happen “BuT iT HeLPed ClINton” that one was because he had an affair and the gop tried to be morality police. Impeaching over “he possibly tried to blackmail a foreign government to investigate someone” is different
-
If there was any evidence whatsoever beyond an anonymous claim by an anonymous person and the Democrats hadnt made 50,000 claims that turned out to be baseless and false about "foreign blackmail" for the past 3 years it might be different. Democrats are Mark Fuhrman at this point

Just wait a couple of days when the person being called a “whistleblower” is shown to not be one under the statute.

I'm pretty certain that if it's a go it will be insufferable wall to wall coverage on every mainstream media outlet. This will be the thing that replaces Russiagate...

Then pay attention to the smoke, and remember it next November. Swing voters will see this as an undemocratic power grab — an attempt to override the voters, and undo the last election. And they will make the Dems pay for it in the next election. Polling has already shown it.

Just another gift to Trump. Russiagate was first and now impeachment will be #2. Only way to remove Trump from office is 2020, all the other stuff is misinformation and misdirection.

Gotta disagree here. "Impeachment" will help Trump and the Republicans. There are still enough sane people left.
