Congratulations to "online disinformation" alarmists who gave implicit approval to this new Pentagon initiative to "detect malicious intent and prevent viral fake news from polarizing society"https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-08-31/u-s-unleashes-military-to-fight-fake-news-disinformation …

After the 2016 election, elite liberal institutions decided that the outcome was the result of some nefarious external intervention, and demanded more stringent regulation of speech. I'm sure they're thrilled now that the Defense Department under Trump is answering the call

Donald Trump "hijacked people's minds" by placing ads on Facebook. Interesting thesis. Also irrelevant to the Pentagon plan to combat "fake news" that I referenced.

Everything bipartisan always ends up being a double edged sword for the people. Or the legislative equivalent to filthy bandaid. People think: Well it's something. But oh baby, that fine print be vicious.

Indeed, they are probably very happy with the move, although they will engage in some pro forma hand wringing over it.

OMG, say it isn't so, not the ELITE liberals, anything but the ELITE ones. They're so obviously ELITE because... well because Michael doesn't like them, that makes them ELITE. Those damn ELITES, always making Michael feel inferior. How dare they!!!

Or, because they have a ton of wealth, power, and status, which insulated them from the reality that was obvious to people who weren't out of touch. That's why Michael Moore, who occasionally hangs with mere mortals, saw this coming.

Biden just made a simple gaffe. He confused the Iraq War with the War of 1812, which he did oppose at the time. It is a simple mistake which anyone of that generation might make.

I went into Netflix's "Great Hack" w/ a negative view of Cambridge Analytica. After watching it, I realized they brilliantly targeted true undecided voters & advertised right to them. Yes, they used propaganda, which I already knew, the rest was brilliant. (1/2)

I think it would be more accurate to say that elite liberal institutions see the 2016 election result as a useful excuse to make a push for a return to the discursive hegemony they once had.
