WTF are you talking about? My "agenda" is to discourage kids from getting irreparable brain damage. Brett Favre has called football a "violent sport" and suggested that he would not allow his sons to play. Is that also some sinister "agenda"?https://twitter.com/WhitlockJason/status/1165735287642738688 …

A 21-year-old football player killed himself last year, and an autopsy later showed that he already had extensive CTE. At 21. So no, children should not be subjected to this. Find another sport that doesn't involve repeated sub-concussive blows to the headhttps://www.apnews.com/9b80ee5f6a5e43d78e545300c549029b …

Young children lack the agency to make fully informed decisions for themselves. Habituating them into football at an extremely early age, and then blaming them for the ensuing brain damage because they weren't technically "forced" to play, is grotesque

If you pay property taxes, there's a good chance you subsidize a school football program. Which means your $$$ goes to funding something that the science overwhelmingly shows causes horrific brain damage. Football should be phased out of public life. If that makes you mad, tough

I get angry about this subject because who knows how many people have been consigned to lives of unnecessary stress, impaired memory, anger control issues, depression, and other mental/physical injury because a bunch of quasi-macho idiots decided it's good for their "character"

Sadly, soccer has also been linked to CTE. Repeatedly using one's head as a battering ram, even against a soccer ball, appears to entail long-term danger. Should soccer players wear helmets?https://www.cnn.com/2017/02/14/health/brain-damage-dementia-cte-soccer-football-study/index.html …

Many youth soccer leagues ban heading the ball. Much harder to ban tackling in...tackle football.

FWIW, I know several high school football players who are convinced they have or will have brain damage (I am less certain). They're going on to community college ball.

Tbh, it would prove very difficult to phase out high school football. Top college football programs (Clemson/Auburn, etc), recruit these kids. Right or wrong, there’s a lot of money in college football, especially for the universities.

Should we ban hockey too? You act like the majority of people who’ve played football have brain damage. They are trying to make the game safer by banning headshots and taking precautions on possible concusions. Helmets are also better.

People are born with certain genetic predispositions. Some men gravitate towards violent activities because that is what they find fulfilling. Boxing, MMA, football, the military - that is just what they were born to enjoy. Of course the injury risk is higher - that is the point

There isn't a time in human history where there was no violent sports. Gladiators to boxing to UFC and MMA to fight clubs. It's a human evolutionary behavior to watch violence. Take away a regulated sport like football, it will be replaced by another violent back alley sports
