WTF are you talking about? My "agenda" is to discourage kids from getting irreparable brain damage. Brett Favre has called football a "violent sport" and suggested that he would not allow his sons to play. Is that also some sinister "agenda"?https://twitter.com/WhitlockJason/status/1165735287642738688 …

A 21-year-old football player killed himself last year, and an autopsy later showed that he already had extensive CTE. At 21. So no, children should not be subjected to this. Young children lack the agency to make fully informed decisions for themselves. Habituating them into football at an extremely early age, and then blaming them for the ensuing brain damage because they weren't technically "forced" to play, is grotesque

If you pay property taxes, there's a good chance you subsidize a school football program. Which means your $$$ goes to funding something that the science overwhelmingly shows causes horrific brain damage. Football should be phased out of public life. If that makes you mad, tough

I get angry about this subject because who knows how many people have been consigned to lives of unnecessary stress, impaired memory, anger control issues, depression, and other mental/physical injury because a bunch of quasi-macho idiots decided it's good for their "character"

Pretty sure most football programs are privately funded. Stadiums are funded by voters. To the extent school dollars *are* spent on football, it's probably as much federal as property taxes. The whole idea that property taxes solely fund schools is....outdated.

He’s from NJ, I think. Property taxes do fund most of it here. If you’re in an affluent town, you may also be subsidizing football in cities like Newark.

Hell just maintain flag football instead of full contact. Still get all the exercise without the extra chance of injury.

Where I live, there’s a town 15 minutes north which looks almost wholly condemned, like it wouldn’t have any police, or even running water. ...and then you look to the left, and there’s this massive, luxurious football stadium, for the high school! Bizarre times.
