This is precisely why debate invitation criteria are one of the most under-appreciated ways that the #politicalindustrialcomplex maintains its monopolistic control on US govt at all levels. Media help mold exclusionary debates, then ignore diverse voices once they're excluded.

Can it really be called a debate if there's only one party represented?

In an actual "debate," each participant would be required to explain their support for or opposition to policy proposals. In what we get instead, 2 or 3 candidates offer soundbites on one issue, then the moderator switches to a completely different topic.

And (I'm going out on a limb here) no mention of
@TulsiGabbard , or why she didn't "qualify" for the next one.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Good to have this opportunity to vote this tweet up 100%. We've seen candidates have at most 8 to 11 minutes of time to expound on important issues that affect millions of people. Reduces life to TeeVee land trivialities and fripperies.

They run it like a reality tv show and are shocked that a reality star won. They could have actual debates about policy and issues or make the candidates live together on an island.

Tulsi Gabbard not making the next debate will suck. I know the DNC does not want her to make it, nor become popular. She is outside the mainstream.

More important criticism is the debates are not debates at all. 90% of the field agree on the topics discussed at the debates and at no point does the so called debates allow candidates to debate any topic.

Improvement over 2016 when there were virtually no debates.

None of those candidates (other than probably
@BernieSanders and@AndrewYang ) is truthful, they all repeat sketchy lines their campaign managers prepare for them, depending on focus groups and polls, they're ”products” for sale and they're all badThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
