Mitt Romney's campaign in 2012 described David Koch as the "financial engine of the Tea Party." When Republicans gained total control of government 5 years later, the Tea Party disappeared and its "small government" philosophy was exposed to have been a fraud

For example, Trump just "ordered" American companies to change their business practices in accordance with his preferences. "Tea Party" opposition to that "order" will be confined to Joe Walsh and two pundits on Twitter

it started out sincere, but people with money moved in and monopolized the "brand" for their own interests

Michael- I would agree with your analysis on a lot of other issues, but the China one is one some (mainly non-corporatists- whatever side of the aisle that puts you on) have been trying to address for a while. A lot of those people are willing to fight that fight.

Given China's IP theft, future national security risks, job-"stealing" (twitterizing) nature of it's economy, it's created a lot of imbalances in the world that will only exacerbate the next downturn. So the order your businesses not around china, while top down, is accepted.

If there's one issue that Trump has been pounding for years, its China. He gets the enormity of what they are doing. Many US companies are assisting china with the goal of destroying us economically through trade & allowing them to steal intellectual property. This is war.

If an "order" is given that no one is obligated to follow, is it an "order"? Sounds like a suggestion to me.

Protest movements tend to lose steam when their party gets in power. Look at anti-war movement under Obama.

          1) As a Ron Paul libertarian that now supports Trump let me attempt to explain how I square this. I am for free trade. However the reality of the world is there are other governments that will enact policies that inhibit free trade. In this situation we can either accept these

          2) terms or use our leverage as a producer of lots of things and buyer of even more, to eventually get to free trade which benefits all. In summary, world governments are a force that exists in this universe. I am for using ours to fight those hurting me as an individual.
