Just a theory but I think there are plenty of people out there who "oppose fascism" but nonetheless have doubts about these recurring episodes of self-important, carnival-style street theater where play-actors pretend 2019 America is meaningfully analogous to 1939 Germany

It doesn't have to be genocide to be meaningfully similar to 1930's Germany. I'm forecasting a continued rise/centering/mainstreaming of white nationalism... it isn't a "carnival" if they're attacking mosques, synagogues, and immigrants...

Yes? Have you read a history book? Things may not be the exact same as 1939 (our time now is more comparable to 1929 anyway), but history has a tendency to rhyme.
