Exactly. This generation wants to be important but can’t stomach any risk so they choose to fight battles fought and won generations before them. Oh and they bully people into giving up their straws.

The worst consequence of the 280 character increase is Tracey’s bonanza of extra adjectives

pardon me, his ‘wholly unnecessary cavalcade of pedantic, superfluous adjectives’

Just LARPers fighting in the streets. Our country and national discourse would be strengthened by ignoring their existence.

Like Chris Hedges says: “the man” is more terrified by a protest made up of moms, kids in strollers, and the elderly, than it is by antifa or the black block Scare them away with theatrical violence, and the powerful breath a sigh of release

It’s been the same in Germany for decades. Neo Nazis v Anti Facista. Tribalism in the form of “political ideologies” using “activism” as a trigger for mindless violence. It’s just a reincarnation Football hooliganism.

Brazil today is more analogous to 1930s Germany.

Remember that in 1939 the Bolsheviks were sufficiently pro-fascist to sign the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact that made it possible for Nazis to go after the democracies they both hated. Antifascist was propaganda slogan Bolsheviks invented later - to cover up their similarities w Nazis

Michael, I enjoy your tweets. Thanks for sharing. I suggest that we are experiencing a "populist moment" similar to the 1880s... and then again pre-WW 1. This is when there is a realignment and the status quo *middle* is challenged by left and right populism.

In other words, everyone is kind of creeped out by LARPers. And, end of the day, who would Proud Boys LARP with if not for Antifa?

The analogy everyone should be looking at is *early* 1930s Germany. When the original Antifa was created to oppose Nazis. Spoiler Alert: They lost Germany to Hitler. The left never learns from its failures.

Theater of the absurd. Too bad they couldn't travel back to early 1930s Germany and get a hard cold dose of reality. At least they could pick up a book and study the conditions that led to the Nazi takeover. No comparison.
