Using that term "union member" verrry loosely when it comes to pro athletes.

True but I think at the same time people generally do not view pro athletes as union members due to their wealth even though their relationship to capital is the same. For example, I remember a poll of union members during the NHL lockout and they generally blamed the players.

Probably what the "At least in our world." means, professional sport <> blogging.

But not on a voluntary basis. If an MLB player wants to forego the union and play for less than the league minimum, he can't.

Yes, Mr. Tracey, and, members of the Screen Actors Guild in Hollywood such as Alec Baldwin are also union members. (Celebrities are not good examples of union members)

I don’t think you could find a bigger disparity in pay for doing the same job than in professional sports.

Pretty ingenious propaganda to convince them that being in a union somehow breaks down your masculinity. Quite an impressive piece of divide and conquer.

Except that they negotiate individually, not collectively, and have no choice whether or not to pay dues.

Meh I think there is a difference between the CBAs in sports and a website unionizing. I think the ringer is making a mistake.

He's saying within his organization of barstool no one should want to unionize, hes not against unions completely in terms of other places!

Hoping Portnoy stupidly goes at Patrick Lynch & the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association - like de Blasio did.

They’re a lot less replaceable than bloggers though and are doing a lot more physically intensive and stressful work lmao

Being a physical specimen whose job requires insane levels of training and takes literal years off your life is the same thing as sitting in an A/C office in Manhattan making 100 blogs about whatever is trending on social media
