Some of that risk could be alleviated by expanding the pool of eligible polls, or, like you said, introducing a variety of metrics (preferably objective ones without much risk of outside interference).

Why do primary candidates even need to be culled at such an early date? 2020 elex 15 mos away. Primaries still months off too There's no legit reason to artificially cull candidates. It's not like the debates have been a failure so far. Many, many Americans doubt the polls now
