Good to see that Twitter now has veto power over New York Times editorial output, seems healthy

Scary times when a subscriber based business is accountable to those subscribers.

Hard to say, it’s not like it’s healthy that the the likes of Friedman or Brooks are paid 6 figures for their opinions in the “paper of record” - twitter couldn’t do much worse

It's not any worse than on anyone else IMO. NYT did push for disastrous wars with lies after lies and has lot of blood on their hands. It's substantially more than any other banned/moderated twitter user. But yes, it's all-around bad.

Kind of a weird way to frame it since a lot of “regular” people had a problem with the headline and were simply using this platform to express their grievance. I wouldn’t chalk this instance up to “the dangers of tech overlords” level

I thought the uproar was over a headline, not an op-ed. Perhaps I'm not paying enough attention to it, but there are other concerns in life. In any event, subscribers shouldn't cancel (but I've never been one) -- just state your feelings about it and demand a response. Then see.

It really is amusing when Tracey tries to paint himself as an unbiased “journalist” with shut takes like this. The power of the people have spoken over one invertebrate editor Mikey.... deal with it.

The idiocy of this, when biased people can control the narrative that a news source puts out, the news source is no longer an objective purveyor of truth but now simply a conduit to voice the beliefs of the subscribers. The NYT just said to hell with truth if it makes money.
