1) In a country of 327 million, sporadic acts of violence are inevitable, and over-reacting to any one event is unwise 2) This doesn't preclude policy adjustments. It is now substantially harder to carry out a mass shooting in CT because semiautomatic rifles were banned in 2013

The Sandy Hook shooter stole his mother’s weapon. By preventing someone without any criminal intent from buying a weapon for hunting, sport or self-defense, you prevent a third party from stealing it. But is that ethical?

But it doesn't- the Ghost Gunner is available in CT so any would-be shooter could easily assemble his own weapon. The laws have changed nothing and have had no impact on the issue.

I'm torn on this issue, but it's easy to show laws can prevent people from acquiring a type of weapon. The law already prevents most mass shooters from acquiring fully automatic machine guns.
