I haven't read a lot of details about this incident one yet, but I'm a little skeptical of this "in less than a minute" thing. If that's true, it most likely means this shooting occurred in a closely crowded place, even closer than a Wal Mart, like a night club or something. /1

...and if that's true, then I go back to and expand on my response to this question yesterday - an AR (assuming that's what he used, I don't know for sure) is functionally no different than any other semi-auto rifle, shotgun, or handgun, and most handguns are semi-auto. /2

", I'm not a "gun control will solve everything" type" - What in the FUCK does that mean? Guns aren't like booze: banning them won't result in gun speak-easies sprouting up in every city in America.

And... who wants a police state ?

They're called semi-automatic weapons. And there are literally 300 million of them in this country (almost every single one). You ain't getting rid of 'em.

In case our Government needs to be fought back.

Let hope it never comes to that, even though my instinct tells me otherwise...

Please explain the social utility of 500+ horsepower cars available off the dealer lot. No background check, no driving test. Keep Hellcats and Corvettes on the racetrack only.
-
You're right. Guns should be treated like cars. Cars are heavily regulated, from requiring preinstalled safery feature, registering each one, training, licensing, and a gang of laws on how to use them.

What’s the social utility of a car that goes more than the speed limit? Of casinos? Of sport hunting? Of alcoholic beverages?

Their utility is their efficiency in killing gungrabers.

Or look into the possibility these mass shootings aren't what they seem. Some are manufactured by a clique of psychopaths to advance an agenda of fear and control. They have tentacles in law enforcement and media.

The hard truth is there is no satisfying answer. You get rid of high capacity magazines, they just do what the scum at Columbine did and buy small mags in large numbers. "But we can get them when they reload" A little training on reloading can cut reloading down to mere seconds.
-
There is a very strange benefit to super high capacity magazines (50-100) in a shooting - they have a habit of jamming up a lot. This happened to end up saving lives in the "Batman Theater" shooting. Jams take much longer to clear up and can self sabotage the shooter.

If the gun costs $300 to $400 a month in insurance to own the killers may not buy one. The 2nd & 3rd words of the 2nd Amendment are "Well Regulated", "Bear Arms" are the 23rd & 24th words.

So, 100% of people who drive cars have car insurance? 100% of people who drive have a valid license? A safe, well maintained motor vehicle? Never drive under the influence? Drive tired? Text and drive?

Outside of .22 LR, .223 is the *least* powerful rifle caliber sold.

It's just a good thing these people don't actually use a powerful round. 223 is too weak to be legally used for hunting medium and large game.
