I wouldn't say 500 is massive - only just the size of regular infantry battalion, I believe. Though, as you say, it's likely to be only the beginning of a larger deployment in the near future.

Why are we doing this? I imagine Saudi Arabia has enough forces and fortifications to protect itself from any external attack, and if it doesn't, it could quickly buy them.
